4 PM
Dana is asleep. I am bored. Claude is outside squawking at people.
We had our massages this morning. We are a mess. Kristen Dempsey came into her office on a holiday just to help us. She was nice, and she really knows her stuff, and we are both grateful to her for hopefully lessening our pain in the upcoming miles.
After our massages, we walked through the historic section of Wilmington. And we got our peach Nehi, which was wonderful. It’s really silly walking a mile and a half in this heat for a soda, but it was something to do, and it gave us a bit of exercise.
I apologize for boring you all (y’all?) with the following slideshow, but it’s all I’ve got. When I was in high school, one of our teachers started every school year with her vacation slide show. I did not look forward to it, and now I am inflicting similar pain on others. Sigh.
So… without further ado… “What We Learned on Our Summer Vacation”… pay attention… there might be a quiz later…
We found a connection to NYC:
and to Lowell, MA:
We learned about presidents:
and about the Civil War:
and about other wars:
and about local history:
including some ugly history:
and about religion:
and about people named Thomas:
I guess most of the signs are on the main road so you turn “two blocks east!” They don’t want you to miss any history. I think you should make a big photo collage when you get home with all of the markers! Feel less achy tomorrow!
Now I know how to torture my children. I will make them read your blog!
